Children are welcome at Mimosa if in a seat for short treatments.
I hope you understand that the environment that we are trying to create at Mimosa is one of peace, calm and tranquillity. Your time with us should be a retreat and a sanctuary from your hectic day, and we do not want the added stress of having to worry about little people’s safety in the salon.
We do! You can buy gift vouchers for specific denominations – all vouchers are avaliable to purchase in our online shop. Vouchers are valid for 12 months after purchase, and we will happily post them to you if you give us an address. COVID-19 – PLEASE DO NOT COME INTO SALON TO BUY YOUR VOUCHERS – WE POST THEM OUT.

COVID-19
What do you have in place for covid-19?All touch points are disinfected in between every client including the key pad on the credit card machine and all door handles
We haven’t removed any of our covid policies and procedures.
It is essential that you perform a lateral flow test before you come to the salon for facials, shoulder, neck & scalp massage, facial electrolysis or facial waxing. I urge all of you coming in for treatments to please perform a lateral flow the night before your appointment so that we can all keep the Mimosa environment as safe as possible.
Tests can be picked up from the library, from any pharmacy or ordered online here: https://www.boots.com/sitesearch?searchTerm=covid+test
If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to email us at mimosabeautyroom@gmail.com
All vouchers and products need to be purchased online here – unless you are coming into the salon for a treatment. We would love you to continue supporting the salon from afar and have loved meeting all the wonderful new people who have been introduced to us by vouchers.
WAXING.
Is waxing hygienic? We take our waxing treatments incredibly seriously, and go above and beyond industry standards of hygiene and care. We never, ever double dip, we always wear gloves, and we’re always on hand should you have questions before or after your treatment
You might have some light stinging, but our founder has used her years of experience and training to develop an in-house waxing methodology that makes the process virtually pain-free.
We’re also very aware of the difference that the type of wax used can make in your experience, which is why we use hot wax for 90% of our treatments, and we only use Australian Bodycare wax for our strip waxing treatments (those on the arms, legs, chest, and back.)
For best results, your hair needs to be at least 1/4 inch long. (That’s about as long as a grain of rice.)
Our hot wax can grab hairs as short as 1mm in length, and our strip wax can remover hair as short as 3mm. You might be able to get away with waxing an area that’s been shaved 10 – 12 days earlier, but we really suggest you leave it at least three weeks.
It varies from person to person, but normally it lasts about 3 – 4 weeks. And the good news is, your hair will become thinner the more you have it waxed.
If you have any contagious skin conditions or sunburnt, chafed, or broken skin, we will not be able to wax you until the condition is completely clear. Likewise, if you’ve been using steroid creams within the last three months or Roaccutane within the last six months, we can’t do a treatment.
Maybe. But if it’s your first one, we recommend having your wax at least a week in advance, because you may look or feel a little sore afterwards. Give everything a few days to settle down, just to be on the safe side.
Start exfoliating the area you’re going to have waxed every 2 – 3 days to encourage the hair to come through and minimise ingrown hairs. We recommend Perron Rigot Double Scrub for this.
You need to avoid heat and friction for 24 hours after you wax. This means:
- No hot baths or showers. Warm ones are OK though.
- No saunas, hot tubs or steam treatments.
- No tanning — that includes sunbathing, sun beds, or fake tans.
- No sport or workouts.
- No scratching or touching your skin unless you’ve washed your hands.
- No swimming in chlorinated pools.
- No deodorants, body sprays, powders, lotions or other products on the area other than those recommended by your therapist.
Some slight soreness, small bumps, or redness is all very common after having a wax, especially if it’s your first one. Any reactions you’ve had should go away within 48 hours. If you have redness or irritation that lasts longer than that, or you just have any other questions, don’t hesitate to contact us.
Of course you can! Waxing during pregnancy has become very popular in the past few years, and our therapists are trained to ensure that your wax is safe and comfortable. Lots of our mummies to be like to get a Playboy or a Hollywood wax one week or so before their due date.
MENS WAXING.
I’m a man and I’ve never had a wax before. What should I do?To get the best results with your treatment, please arrive freshly showered, and try to gently exfoliate the area you’re getting waxed for a few days before your treatment. Don’t worry about shaving or trimming the area beforehand.
Please don’t worry about being naked or becoming aroused during the treatment. Your therapist is no more concerned with the size or shape of your body than the type of car you drive or the colour of your eyes!
While some clients do experience a temporary physical arousal in response to the manipulation of their genitals, this it nothing to worry about and usually goes away quickly. Customers are advised, however, that inappropriate behaviour will not be tolerated.
