Hello beautiful, This is movement month. At least that’s how it feels. Everywhere you look there’s action, growth, energy, and yes, movement. It’s in the flowers as they determinedly push their little heads up through the not-so-frozen ground, it’s in the garden as the bees and bugs start to emerge for their summer in the sun, it’s in the streets and parks as lighter evenings see kids (and adults too!) come out to play with footballs and bikes. And it’s infectious. It might be inspiring you to move your body more too. To seek growth. To leap into action. To lean right into the energy of the season and find new ways of adding more movement to your life. For you, that might look like hitting the gym, finding your nearest pool, or enrolling in that dance class you’ve been thinking about. Or…you might be struggling with the fact that movement doesn’t feel quite so accessible to you. If that sounds more relatable to you right now, take heart. Tapping into the energy and the excitement of the season absolutely does not have to look like throwing yourself into a sweaty gym class. Movement, the Mimosa way. There can be a million things that make movement tricky for you, from disabilities, injuries, mental health challenges, chronic illness, and just plain being far too busy to be able to commit to an hour-long run or yoga class. So please know, that when it comes to fitting more movement into your life, there’s no specific way that has to look. There’s no rule that it’s only valid if it makes you sweat, or that it only counts if you need to wear a heavy duty sports bra to get it done. Literally everything counts. From 5 minutes of stretching before bed, to a leisurely walk around the local park with a friend, to the time you spend planting spring flowers in your garden or window box. My favourite Spring movement: If you’d like a gentle, nourishing, and 100% joyful way to incorporate a little more movement into your day, try this tomorrow morning. When you first wake, ease yourself out of bed, and then slowly, and mindfully stretch your arms up to the sky. As you do so, check in with your body and — without judgement — assess how you feel, and find the level of stretch that feels good to you in that moment. Inject even more loveliness into the movement by picturing yourself as a little spring bulb, reaching its shoots up to the sky as it emerges from its winter hibernation. A beautiful way to start your day! And if you’d like to learn more about the role of movement as an essential part of living a deliciously beautiful life, no matter how you currently feel about movement and your unique body, I’d love to welcome you to the Mimosa Online Sanctuary. Module 5 is the perfect exploration of movement, the Mimosa way: together we’ll uncover the secrets to mindful movement, learn how to stretch in a way that works for you, and discover new ideas for using movement to make your life infinitely more beautiful. See you there? Jennie x P.S If you’ve already been hitting the gym pretty hard, or your muscles are feeling tired, stressed, and in need of a serious dose of relaxation, treat yourself to an indulgent massage in the Mimosa salon.
