Hello beautiful, I was at a dinner party recently and a guest said something that kinda shook me: ‘Oh, I could never come to you for a wax.’ ‘Why?’ I asked. ‘Because I’d have to get my pants off.’ Here’s why it surprised me: I’ve been looking at vaginas at least 5 times a day for the last 16 years. And not just vaginas. Boobs. Thighs. Backs and bellies. I’m so used to dealing with all sorts of human bodies that I sometimes forget that taking any of your clothes off in front of another person can be a huge deal. Even just having someone looking at your face super closely can feel kinda daunting. But here’s the thing about Mimosa — I’m here to treat everyone. Literally everyone. Whether you fit the mould of what we’re told beauty looks like or not. Because I don’t subscribe to that idea of beauty. I know that everyone has cellulite. That your tummy will hang over if you’ve had a c-section (and even if you haven’t). That your body will look different if you’ve lost weight or put some on. That everything changes as you age. And not only do I not care about any of that — I don’t notice. Because I’m not actually looking at your boobs and whether they fall to the side when you lie down. I’m not even really looking at your body as a human body… I’m looking at your body as a sort of river. When you observe water, you can see the currents move, you can see areas of resistance and tension. And so it is with the human body — I can look at your naked back as you lie down for a massage and see the currents. I can literally see where there’s tension in the muscle, where you’ve been holding your body too tight. And when I can see it, I can fix it. It’s the same with any body part. Whether you come into the salon for waxing, for a skin treatment, or for a massage, I’m not looking at you with any sort of judgement. I’m not assessing where you’d fall on the conventional beauty scale. I’m not looking for a poster child for the salon. I’m looking at a river. I’m looking for currents and tension. I’m looking to see how I can help you feel your most relaxed, beautiful, glowing, and rejuvenated self. So, if you’ve been thinking you’d like a wax or a massage but were worried in any way about taking your pants (or anything else!) off — know that Mimosa is a safe space where you can feel comfortable, confident, and beautiful in your wonderful body. Ready to make that appointment? You can book here. And if you’re feeling particularly nervous, let me know and I’ll do everything I can to settle those nerves! Jennie x |
