Gluconolactone is a member of the PHA family, a group of acids that work in a similar way to AHAs, exfoliating the skin surface while also strengthening the barrier function and fighting signs of ageing. Due to their larger molecular size, PHAs are gentler and cause less irritation than traditional methods of exfoliation.
